Last weekend I left Tom to see the kids to all their weekend sports events and managed to sneak off to the Flathead Valley with my parents. We went for a little family and fun.
Our primary purpose was attending the Vintage Whites Market and Flathead Valley Parade of Homes. I have been hearing about the market and it has been gaining popularity, and since we don't have too many flea market opportunities in our state I was really looking forward to going. In the end I enjoyed the beautiful weather and live music more that the actual shopping. I'm not much of a junk collector and we had limited cargo space. It was fun to look anyway and I being picky is not such a bad thing. Am I right?
The Parade of Homes was super fun. I know some people don't enjoy the part about coming home and feeling like our own digs are dumpy and inadequate after seeing show-ready mansions all day. I get this. But I came home and looked around at my own house and just felt pride for what I've accomplished so far, and inspired for projects to come. There is beauty in the process, in imperfection, in variety.
I managed to meet with a couple of clients on this trip also, which helped justify the time away. I am having so much fun with this! Business has been trickling in at a steady rate, which is perfect for allowing me to get my business legs under me while still being the mom I want to be. I realize I haven't posted much about my projects here (yet). It will come... when I feel ready to promote my business and when I can handle some more work. This is such a learning process and test of confidence . . .
